Our story

Founded in 2007, DG Express Transports was built by Derrick Lamar Gordon, a U.S. military veteran who brought the same discipline and standards he learned in service to the trucking industry. With 18 years of hands-on hazmat bulk tanker experience, Derrick launched the company on a straightforward principle: hazardous materials deserve the same operational rigor and accountability as any safety-critical industry.

From a single truck to a fleet of 10 tractors, 10 bulk tankers, and a dedicated hazmat box truck, DG Express has grown by keeping compliance and driver excellence at the center of every decision. Today, operating out of Richmond, TX, we move regulated commodities for shippers across the country, hauling every DOT hazmat class under full FMCSA authority, every load, every lane.

Fleet & capabilities

10 Tractors & 10 Bulk Tankers

Our purpose-built fleet includes 10 Class-A tractors paired with 10 bulk tankers and 1 plated dry van, plus a 26-ft hazmat-certified box truck. Every unit is maintained to DOT standards with current inspections and proper placarding.

Hazmat Classes Handled

We transport all nine DOT hazmat classifications (Classes 1 through 9), including flammable liquids, gases (butane, petroleum, crude oil), corrosives, explosives, oxidizers, toxic substances, radioactive materials, and miscellaneous hazardous materials.

Service Area

Full truckload (FTL) freight service across all 48 contiguous states, dispatched from the Houston, TX metro area. Our geographic position makes us especially well-suited for Gulf Coast energy, chemical, and petroleum corridors.

Safety & regulatory commitment

Compliance is not a checkbox. It is how we operate. Every element of our business is structured around DOT and FMCSA requirements for hazardous materials transportation.

Driver Standards

CDL-A with active H & N endorsements, TSA Threat Assessment clearance, FMCSA-mandated hazmat training (general awareness, function-specific, safety, and security per 49 CFR 172 Subpart H), and ELDT compliance for new endorsements.

Security Plan

Written hazmat security plan maintained per 49 CFR 172 Subpart I, covering unauthorized access prevention, en-route security, and personnel vetting.

Insurance & Coverage

$5 million in commercial auto liability and $5 million in general liability coverage. Carrier-grade protection that meets and exceeds FMCSA requirements for hazmat transportation.

Vehicle Inspections & Maintenance

Every bulk tanker and tractor undergoes documented pre-trip and post-trip inspections per FMCSA requirements. Regular maintenance ensures compliance with federal standards, proper placarding integrity, and emergency equipment functionality.
