CDL-A Hazmat Bulk Tanker Drivers

About the Role: DG Express Transports is seeking experienced, safety-focused CDL-A drivers with Hazmat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements to operate our hazmat-compliant fleet across all 48 states. You'll transport regulated commodities including flammable liquids, gases, and corrosives under full DOT and FMCSA compliance. This is over-the-road (OTR) freight work requiring professional hazmat expertise, reliable dispatch communication, and a commitment to every-load safety protocols.

Why Drive for DG Express?

  • Safety-First Culture: Built by a military veteran. We prioritize compliance and driver training above all else. No unsafe loads, no corner-cutting.
  • Quality Equipment: Modern fleet of 10 bulk tankers and tractors, well-maintained, regularly inspected, and equipped with current safety systems.
  • Hazmat Expertise: 18+ years of founder experience in hazmat bulk tanker operations. You'll work alongside professionals who understand the industry.
  • Reliable Dispatch: Nationwide lane coverage with strong energy and chemical corridors. Consistent work, professional communication, and transparent rate structures.
  • Professional Environment: You'll be part of a team where regulation compliance and driver respect go hand-in-hand. No pressure to violate hours-of-service or safety standards.
  • DOT-Authorized Carrier: Full FMCSA authority (USDOT 4347866, MC-1699598) with documented security plans and hazmat protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate bulk tanker trailers and hazmat-equipped vehicles per DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Transport hazardous materials (flammable liquids, gases, corrosives) with proper placarding, shipping papers, and emergency response information on board.
  • Conduct detailed pre-trip and post-trip inspections per FMCSA requirements, documenting all vehicle condition reports.
  • Maintain current electronic logbook (ELD) and accurate shipment/delivery documentation on every load.
  • Verify proper hazmat handling, loading procedures, and customer compliance before departure.
  • Respond to dispatch communications promptly; coordinate pickup times, route adjustments, and delivery updates.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of spill containment and emergency response procedures if required by shipment.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and comply with CSA/FMCSA safety standards on every trip.

Required Qualifications

  • CDL Class A with active Hazmat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements (or combined X endorsement).
  • Valid TSA Threat Assessment clearance for hazmat endorsement.
  • Minimum 2 years hazmat and/or tanker driving experience preferred.
  • Manual transmission experience required.
  • Clean driving record; must pass MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) and background check.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds safely and work independently in time-sensitive environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail for vehicle inspections and documentation.
  • Houston, TX-based; willing to drive OTR nationwide for extended periods (no exceptions).
  • Must pass DOT medical exam (FMCSA-required) and drug screening per 49 CFR.
  • Professional communication skills; comfortable with real-time dispatch and customer coordination.
